. Pangea Chorus embrace many styles ranging from Bowie to Bluegrass, South African township, soul and folk. If you have registered for the 6-week project then please feel free to leave suggestions for repertoire on the groups page (follow link above) in the discussion section. We learn both by ear and with scored music (reading music is not at all necessary) and place much emphasis on the social aspects of choir singing and the community spirit that Transition Town promotes.
About our ethos: Pangea Chorus started as a free drop in choir in Stoke Newington in October 2008. It was designed to welcome people from all walks of life to explore the health and social benefits of singing with other people. Many people would come after work, very tired, and would leave feeling rejuvinated, or, wouldn't leave until 4 hours later having been drawn into hanging out with the lovely crew that Pangea Chorus is. Many people who have been members for a long period of time have grown in confidence and have improved their oratory skillls and posture. A few have joined quietly saying that they can not sing. Luckily, this is not an issue. Nobody has to be a great singer to have the right to sing out loud and to hear their voice amongst others.
Times and dates: Rehearsals will take place every Wednesday evening, 6.30pm until 8.30pm from 27th April until the 8th June with a week over off over half-term.
Costs: Contribution of minimum £3.
About the director: Pangea Chorus is led by Rosanna Schura BMus who has been performing and teaching in London for just over 10 years. Rosanna is a graduate of Trinity College of Music and is currently training to be a secondary school music teacher. Rosanna has taught at many schools and music institutions including a long running teaching post at Brunel University. Rosanna composes for many bands - her music is available at http://www.myspace.com/rosannaschura |
