About

Pangea Chorus is an independent choir which started at Stoke Newington music venue Pangea Project. Pangea Chorus will now be joined by Transition Town Stoke Newington for weekly sessions in 8-week projects of choir singing for anyone who loves to sing.

Pangea Chorus embraces many styles ranging from Bowie to Bluegrass, South African township, soul and folk. We learn both by ear and with scored music (reading music is not at all necessary) and places much emphasis on the social aspects of choir singing and the community spirit that Transition promotes.

Rehearsals happen at the Boiler House, George Downing Estate, Stoke Newington, N16 6BE. Details of projects and performances will all be posted here on the TTSN website in the Pangea Chorus group page.

The second set of Pangea Chorus sessions will happen every Monday from 6.30pm until 8.30pm starting on 24th October and running until 12th December.

The choir is open to anyone but people must register by emailing the choir leader at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Contributions of a minimum of £3 are requested to cover the costs of the hall

Our Ethos

Pangea Chorus started as a free drop in choir in Stoke Newington in October 2008. It was designed to welcome people from all walks of life to explore the health and social benefits of singing with other people. Many people would come after work, very tired, and would leave feeling rejuvinated, or, wouldn't leave until 4 hours later having been drawn into hanging out with the lovely crew who make up Pangea Chorus.

Many people who have been members for a long period of time have grown in confidence and have improved their oratory skillls and posture. A few have joined, quietly saying that they can not sing. Luckily, this is not an issue. Nobody has to be a great singer to have the right to sing out loud and to hear their voice amongst others.

About the Director

Pangea Chorus is led by Rosanna Schura BMus who has been performing and teaching in London for just over 10 years. Rosanna is a graduate of Trinity College of Music and is currently training to be a secondary school music teacher. Rosanna has taught at many schools and music institutions including a long running teaching post at Brunel University. Rosanna composes for many bands - her music is available at http://www.myspace.com/rosannaschura

Choirs & Resilience

The late Dr David Fleming, inventor of Tradable Energy Quotas and the concept of the Lean Economy, was asked what one thing anyone can do to make their communities more resilient and prepared for peak oil.... after a long pause he said: "Join the choir"
